I’m starting a project where I need to capture web browsing, typing in Word, etc. on a computer screen. Final output will be on SD DVD.

What codec should I be using in my screen capture software (Snapz)? I’ve done a few tests using DVDVCPro and it looks pretty good, but I feel I may be missing something here. Would it be better to capture using the Animation codec and then render that on a DVDVCPro timeline? Maybe something different altogether?

    Thanks

try a few options and see what looks the best. I’m not familiar with the software you are using, but with programs I have used in the past, I was able to control frame rate and output resolution.

Just make sure those two things match your final output and you should be good.

    oh and one more thing…

I have found that going out of a computer VGA into a scan converter and then out to a record deck or camera and recording that way usually gives you the best results…that is if you have a scan converter. Even the cheap officemax ones will work okay.

    hi,

I’ve had the same lack of success with software approaches. I’ve tried using Apple’s DVI to video adapter ( cause that is what a salesperson told me was all they had at Fry’s..) But, I can’t record, any ideas? settings? using a powerbook and an HVX 200.
here is a post from another site, with pictures. thanks for your time.

My solution was to use Snapz..which was what I started with, before all this testing. I encoded with the animation codec and apparently did a better settings match in fcp.
