computer running Premiere pro CC newest update
Hi all,
Last week i upgraded to the 12.1 (Kentos) seems that this is the latest version of cc. I opened some footage that was 4k and it was very slugguish. Other versions was less sluggish although if put some effects on it, it had a hard time keeping up. I was always unhappy with the speed of my computer although it had very good components, it just seemed sluggish with PP. I ran a benchmark and saw that the memory used was in the 14 percentile of what I should be getting, and the speed of the memory was supposed to be 3200, but showed 2100 . I manually changed the speed in the Bios setup (it had been on auto), ran the test again and it was 45 percentile. I opened PP and played the same clip and I saw a definite improvement. I was able to view the footage at full resolution and it still played smoothly. I did not try it with effects, so I know I have improved the system but I don’t know to what degree.These are my specs
i7-6850k
nvidia gtx-1070
G Skill 32 GB memory now running 3200
The C: drive is on a m.2 Samsung drive 500 GB
But my footage is on a WD Black series drive.could I do better if I add more memory and/or push my system?
Is this new version slower than the others?

I think that is your problem. 4K (H.264/5) does not edit easily, might want to try proxies.———————————————–

Is this drive a single WD Black 7200 rpm HDD?
