I’m using Vegas Pro 9c, no problem with my fairly modest current desktop and laptop computers for most projects. However, I recently completed an assignment, editing internet video news segments for a convention, loads of graphics, cutaways, voiceovers, all on quick deadlines (3 – 4 hours from shoot to posting on the internet) and my poor old laptop was sweating profusely trying to keep up, especially when it was time to render and upload. I’m considering my options and was wondering about what others are using and recommend. Lately I’ve been looking at the mobile workstations from Boxx Technologies and was curious if anyone has any experience with their products, good or bad, but I’m not partial to any particular brand. Any input is helpful, thanks in advance.

Some people think Lenovo makes the best.

I have had problems with Dell, and would avoid them. They use non-standard parts, branded as standard. This has caused me non-compatibility issues. I am not sure if this also applies to Alienware (which Dell bought). You might could ask them.

I think IBuyPower and some of the other boutique makers also make laptops.

    I hope that helps.

Stay away from Alienware! They don’t support their products, and they don’t know how to configure their systems properly. My most recent experience is with an Alienware laptop. I paid them over $1,000 to repair a video card problem with this laptop. The video card has just failed for the FOURTH time, and is now a few weeks outside their 45 day warranty period. I have a boat anchor because they have failed to fix the original problem.

I could go on, but what would be the point? This is simply the latest example of nonsupport from Alienware.
