Computer Problems
Hello Everyone,
I have a problem with my After Effects CS4 project.
My project resolution is 1024X768, and it have some HDV chroma key video files in it.
The After Effects crashes all the time and the RAM Preview make the application Not Responding sometimes.My computer is not so bad:
INTEL CORE i7 920 2.66GHZ CPU
2x 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 Total 12GB 1333
Geforce 9800GT 1GB
WIN XP 64 BITDo you think it’s because the project is too “heavy” for the computer? What could be the problem?

You should search this forum for any post by Dave LaRonde with “Dave’s Stock Answer #1”.
This first thing to try is transcoding your HDV footage to some other high quality format that doesn’t use interframe, temporal compression.
Uncompressed, Animation, Photo-JPEG, and Avid DNxHD, or an image sequence are all good candidates.

It’s the first thing to try. Native HDV footage seems to cause all kinds of bizarre behavior in AE.
The second troubleshooting step is making sure OpenGL is disabled.

Guess you have probably already tried this but how about purging your video cache, closing down all composition windows and rendering with caps lock engaged?
Will trashing your AFX preferences file help?Good luck.
