I am configuring a Final Cut HD workstation which will primarily work with HDCAM sources with output back to HDCAM or D-5. I need a recommendation for the computer monitor. I have narrowed it down to the Dell 2405FPW 24″ monitor or the Apple 23″ Cinema Display. I was impressed with this review of the Dell monitor (https://barefeats.com/lcd.html) but am concerned about the 60Hz drop frame issue. If it wasn’t for this potential issue I would definitely go with the Dell. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the hardware specs on the rest of the system so far:

    Apple Quad 2.5GHZ
    4gb Ram
    Kona 3 (Once it ships)
    Atto UL5D
    Huge Systems 1.6TB MEDIAVAULT U320-RX

    Thanks,

as many people have stated (and as I have observed), the Dell 2405FPW is teriffic, and I have not observed the “dropped frames” that Apple reports. I don’t believe that anyone on this forum observed it either.

The Sony SDM-P234b is an excellent choice as well, as is the HP 2335.

[Bob Zelin] “the Dell 2405FPW is teriffic”

I’ll second that, and it’s bargain too. I got mine for 845 delivered.

Is the drop frame issue perhaps when it is being used a computer monitor hooked up to the graphics card (digital cinema desktop)
rather than as a monitor for HD via an HDlink for example?
