hello, I seem to have a problem capturing some footage off of a Canon XHA1. my computer recognizes that it is connected, but final cut says their is no communication. It doesn’t ask for the device when i open final cut, but once i try to capture it has no communication, if I can even get the capture window to open. usually it just appears for a second then disappears by sliding to the right. if anyone could help it would be most appreciated.

Firstly your easy setup must match the camera format. Secondly, the camera must be correctly configured. Thirdly you version of FCP must be recent enough to capture HDV.

Without any info about your version and setup particulars, I can’t be specific. Also a search of this forum will reveal many threads and great advice on capturing HDV.

Finally issues like preference needing trashing should be searched on and considered.

    Austin,

Your playback standard in the A1 when in VCR mode must be in HDV, it defaults to auto. Set this BEFORE you plug in the FireWire.

    Have a wonderful day.
