December 22, 2005 at 6:13 pmI did this recently using a cheap mixer (the soundcraft notepad)
send your audio from your deck into 1 channel, the audio from your mac into the second channel and the output from the mixer to you speakers.
Works great! AND you can adjust the volumes of both independantly.Dave

He wants the audio from the Mac to go THRU the FW.
As to using an audio mixer from all of your analog sources, that’s a good idea… in fact, that’s the way its done in thousands of pro edit bays around the world.

December 22, 2005 at 7:08 pmyeah i don’t have a mixer at the moment. my speakers are coming out of my firewire deck and i’d like the rest of my apps to come out of the firewire deck/speakers too, but it looks like this is not possible.

December 22, 2005 at 7:59 pmJust buy an under $20 “A-B” audio switch. (Even Wal-Mart has ’em).
Here’s an A-B-C-D switch from Radio Shack that has audio AND video for $19.99 (just use as many of the inputs as you need).
https://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049645&cp=&kw=audio+switch&parentPage=search
Plug the Mac’s audio out to the A input and the deck or camcorder’s audio to the B input and send the output to your amp/speakers.
Or (as ddubious said) use an inexpensive mixer.
Here’s a great one for $49.99 NEW.https://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/631238/
(I own 2 lof ’em)
