I get this strange error message when submitting files in Compressor:

“Unable to submit to queue. Please restrt your computer or verify your Compressor instllation is correct.”

This appeared some days ago. After using “FCP Remover” I have now been through the tedious work of re-installing Final Cut Studio from version 1 to 2.

I even tried to use a newly installed version on an external start disk, and that worked. But on the computors start disk, the same message shows its ugly face again.

What should I do? What does this “verify your Compressor installation is correct” really mean?

It means that you have a corrupt install…

If it were me I wipe out your startup disk and install the whole thing cleanly. Back up first as this will erase your startup disk of course.

    Puuh …

So the re-intall of FCS was not enough. Do you mean FCS and Mac OS X? Nothing more? So I can just copy back all other programs and all user files? Takes some time …

By the the way, seems like Compressor works allright when it works on its own, and gives this problem only when I send FCP-sequences to Compressor.

Thanks. I´ll see when I do it correctly.

It’s sort of a sledge hammer approach. But it always works when something isn’t working that should, and the system’s already been reinstalled and upgraded from FCP 2 to 3 or say from Tiger to Leopard. If you’ve not rebuilt a startup disk in a while, it’s time anyway I’d suggest.

Probably all you needed to do was eliminate and then reinstall Qmaster.
    I do not know why.
It seems to be a weird issue.
I do not want to get into a shouting match with anyone around here, least of all better qualified experts like Jerry, but I do not subscribe to nor do I even support at all the idea that significant FCP upgrades and system upgrades require or even necessarily benefit from an erase and rebuild, what I call the “scorcehd earth approach to upgrading.”

I have been running my suite of a dozen or more Macs for many years (two run FCS3, the others are CS5) and have only ever once performed a total rebuild on one machine due to a drive failure. I think it is a waste of time and effort with questionable benefits resulting from the investment of time and effort. But it seems to be prescribed as a cure for everything.

No, I have never reinstalled the system. My son tells me that he reinstalls Windows now and then. Yes, it seems to be a waste of time. But this time I may need to do it

I tried to eliminate and reinstall Compressor, without success.

BTW, I have had problems with Compressor for a long time, it cannot create reference files. Exept that it does now and then, for no apparent reason.
