I have been testing files for transcoding using compressor.
Iam starting with an NTSC DV video file and in compressor using
the advanced setting to transcode to PAL. The movie transcodes fine and
in the quicktime player info box it shows the correct settings for PAL, size
and frame rate. When I import this file into FCP5 andput it on a timeline
it shows that it needs rendering. In the items info it says that the file
is 29.97 frames per second. Any else tried this kind of transcoding with better luck?
    Thanks for any info.

For anyone else who may be having this problem. It seems you have to change the settings in the frame controls, it doesn’t seem to matter exactly what you change, and then the files are read correctly in FCP.
