Could anyone tell me if it normally takes this long for compressor to do it’s thing? I did a test of 10 sec. of video: DV NTSC exported out of FCP as QT mov. imported into Compressor. Since I was testing for a mov. of 183 min. that needs to go on one single-layer DVD, I made a custom preset of MPEG-2, 180 min, 3.1 avg. bit rate, 7.8 VBR, 2-pass, 4:3 and AC3 audio at 160kbps. (I got the bit rates from the bit budget.) The video looked OK on the test, so I went ahead and brought the full QT mov. of 183 min. into Compressor. At first it said it would take 3+ hrs. Now, after 2+ hrs. it says time remaining is 5+ hrs. Does that sound right?

    I’m working on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.4, 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo.

    Thanks,
    Nina
