    I have a G5 Dual 2.3 processors, 4 gig of Ram- should it really take 3.5 hours to render a 1080i Prores sequence to Mpeg4?

    NOTE: I’m an Avid editor working on my first FCP project, so you’re going to see a lot of me here.

    Well, that depends on how long your sequence is… You’re not running the fastest mac on the block either.

    That said, I had a dual G5 that took 4 times the time it takes my 8 core intel machine to render an MPEG-2 file… so figure you could expect a speed bump like that if you were to upgrade your computer.
