compressor reinstall blues
Posted by Paul Nevison on August 11, 2008 at 7:58 amHey All,
I had an issue with Compressor where I had a job that got stuck in the render que and I just couldn’t flush it out. I ended up trashing compressor and had planned to reinstall it from scratch.
However, now when I put my FCP2 install disks in, the option to install any of the FCP suite programmes is greyed out.
any ideas?

You must fallow some precise steps:https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1888
Try that.

yes knew there was more to trashing an app than simply trashing the icon in the apps folder…i wasn’t sure of the checklist for all the associated compressor files, but that link is very helpful…..my outstanding question is when will apple build an easy uninstall option?? Is there a technical barrier to why it can’t be done? I’m sure someone must have written an apple script to perform just such a task……i”m off to google the answer!

August 11, 2008 at 11:25 amHi Paul,
What Apple should also improve is the “Optimizing System” that appear after any Apple installation.
Even if you make the cleanest installation from scratches in a brand new HD, the result is such a mess inside the Mac OX that is impossible to run properly an application like FC.

How are you?
I prefer don’t need to uninstall nothing, but for $12.90 is even tempting to give it a try.

rafael “Hi Rafael,
I’m good thanks, even better pricewise is AppDelete, it’s free!
I agree about the mess any install makes on the HD.
I’ve come to using Diskwarrior between each install, makes the directory cleaner.Cheers

I really don’t understand how some people can run a Mac without DW or TT.
For me is the first software to purchase no matter if you are making video, music or even if you use your Mac only to kill aliens.
The thing I like the most from TT is the e-Disk. You don’t need to boot from a CD or any other external HD to do all the cleaning.

What do you think are the relative strengths and weaknesses of DW and TT?
Comments pleaseCheers
