Compressor Question
Hi Everyone,
I know this is a FCP forum, but I couldn’t find one for Compressor, so I assumed someone here might still be able to help.
So without too much back story; I’m working on a Multi Format project and I’m currently working with all the different formats in FCP. Right now all the footage is in its original size and frame rate, and we’re editing in a timeline that is Apple Pro Res 422, 24 fps. Needless to say, its causing some quirkiness in how FCP processes things. I’m getting the impression that I’ll need to standardize the footage to Pro Res in order to help alleviate a myriad of problems. So with that said, I’m trying to figure out how to create a few Compressor Templates that will allow me to compress my source footage to 24 fps, but I’d like to retain the original sizes, so that I can either increase the scale and crop in FCP, or use the footage with a perceived pillar box if I didn’t want to distort the footage by increasing the size.
So, if you’re still with me: Can anyone recommend a setting for Compressor that will allow me to retain original size and aspect ratio, but convert the footage to 24 fps and Apple Pro Res 422 so that when I bring the footage into an Apple Pro Res 422 timeline, the footage is the original size but doesn’t require rendering. Please let me know if this is possible, or if there is a better way to be tackling this issue, as right now we’re all frustrated with the render time and worried that multiple formats/frame rates will output in a bizarre way once everything is said and done. Thanks for any help you can give!
