Compressor problems
I was trying to make a 24p DVD last night, and followed the steps on Ken Stone’s website (exporting as FCP movie, using current settings, and then bringing it into compressor). I used the 60 minute fast encode setting in compressor, not changing any of the settings. When I brought that movie into DVDSP and tried to build and burn, I got an error “Bit Rate Too High”. I did not set the bit rate…it was a compressor preset! So why should the program output my movie with too high of a bitrate? The piece is 40 minutes right now…so it is not a short encode. I then tried just exporting from the timeline straight to compressor, forgoing the 24p DVD idea; I used the same compressor setting…and lo and behold, had the same darn problem when trying to build the DVD. Eventually, I just took the quicktime that I had exported originally and dropped it into DVDSP and let it encode it. It finally worked.
What am I doing wrong with compressor? Why do I have to change the bitrate on a factory preset? If I do have to duplicate and change it, then what should I set the bitrate to?
Thanks in Advance,
