Compressor keeps compressing
Posted by Jarrod Boord on November 30, 2009 at 10:51 amHi all,
having a problem compressing any files in compressor to mpeg2 program stream. Once the progress gets to 99% it doesn’t finish and the file size just keeps getting bigger until it fills up my hard drive. Any suggestions? Compressor version 3.5.1
Has anyone else had this problem?Rafael Amador replied 16 years, 5 months ago 3 Members · 10 Replies -

November 30, 2009 at 5:42 pmClean the “History Window”.
That used to happen to me.
It seems that Compressor re-take threads that you may have stopped or so.

November 30, 2009 at 10:41 pmNo. Clearing history did not work. My brothers machine is doing exactly the same thing!

December 1, 2009 at 4:13 amThanks. I have tried the repair as well. Still no love… I have found a work around now. Export compressor as standard 90min DVD file, m2v and ac3 files, then import into MPEG streamclip and Mux the files. you have to name both files exactly the same name (except the extension) and keep in same folder, then drag into MPEG Streamclip the .m2v file and export to mpeg with mp2 audio. You cannot put the bit rate above 9000 but it is good enough for this one. I think the issue is somewhere in the Muxing stage of the compressor process.
What a pain, but it will work for this job. I will do a fresh install soon!
Thanks for the help -

Is OK as workaround, but you should skip the AC3 step, otherwise you compress your audio twice
Do the same but instead of AC3 do it AIFF.

December 2, 2009 at 4:31 pmI’m having a similar problem. I just installed the latest FCP update, so now Compressor 3.5.1.
when i submit my job, all default settings Apple Devices:H.264 for iPod and iPhone, the task just continues to increase in time remaining and never completes.
I have tried the digital rebellion fix, the clearing my history fix, the restarting my cpu fix, on and on…
I’m running out of hope and ideas. my old compressor used to rock and roll, and now that i updated, it’s yet to work.

December 3, 2009 at 5:42 amHi Joe,
in Library/Receipts, delete the last Compressor Receipt and try to re-install.
