Does anyone else have output problems with Compressor in 7? 10.6.2, FCP7.01,outputting from the timeline with all the standard name changes to keep things smooth; I get a 1 frame flashing dialogue box that’s too quick on screen to actually read. It flashes every 10 seconds graying out all other compressor windows, and looks like it
has the yellow ‘same name’ warning on it for identical names – however, that can’t be the issue since the names have been changed.

It still outputs, but is slower, and I’m hoping of the same quality. All ideas welcome and thanks.

    Well, Craig…

This is one of those issues that we have been fighting with for a very long time with Apple. It seems that Apple is just blowing us off because they feel this is a non-essential operation within FCP to warrant a fix.

The only work around is to export your program as a reference file or a complete Quicktime file and then use Compressor to compress to whatever format you want. It always works this way. But outputting from the timeline has never worked for me and for many out here on the COW.

Another idea for you… Delete the prefs for Compressor. They can get all screwed up just like in FCP. I would suggest that you look at Digital Rebellion’s FCS Maintenance Pack. It does an awesome job of doing these things for you at a reasonable price.

Thanks Wayne, I’ll try it. I can’t decide whether it’s a snow leopard, compressor, or FCP issue, very annoying.

After an exhaustive investigation, and no help from Apple, it turns out compressor was trying to make network connections thru my firewall. Firewall off for the output, no problems.
