  • Compressor: How to interlace?

Greetings! I have a clip that was shot HD, edited down to SD, but was not rendered out interlaced.(rendered ProRes 720X486 D1 29.97fps progessive)

I need to interlace it for my broadcast switcher, and I am using h.264 codec in compressor to create the file. I cant seem to find an option to interlace it, only deinterlacing. My switcher requires the interlacing.

Is there a way to do this in Compressor, or do I need to do it in something else?

[Ben Watson] “My switcher requires the interlacing. “

How are you sending it to your switcher?

It has a built it “Clips” bin, that plays video straight from the file. I just copy the file to the drive.

and how do you know it’s the progressive natuire of the file that is tripping it up? Perhaps it’s the codec? If you have a progressive SD file it plays back psf anyway.

I know this, because I can export a file from MPEG Streamclip that plays fine, but I tell it to interlace. All the rest of the settings are the same in Compressor, but this one is lacking.

In Compressor in the Frame Controls tab, turn them on, the choose the output fields there.

Most likely you will need to just change the field dom in your current file, though, and you can do that using Dumpster.
