I’ve recently switched over from a powermac g5 to an PowerMac Intel machine. I was using Final Cut Studio 2 on the old machine and moved it over to the new machine using Apple’s user copy wizard when you first run the OS. Since then, everytime I try to open Compressor, it looks like it’s going to run, I see the window announcing that Compressor is loading, and then I get a message saying the application has closed unexpectedly. I tried re-installing Final Cut Studio (it won’t let me just re-install Compressor) and it’s still doing the same thing. Does anyone know what file could be missing or what the problem could be. I assume it’s something with the switch to Intel, but I can’t seem to figure out what it is. Thanks for your help.

you need FCP 5.1 or better on intel based machines.

We had a problem similar to this, only we weren’t running Studio 2, merely Studio 1 w/ FCP 5.1.4. I couldn’t get various programs in the suite to open, until I went back and reinstalled everything under my user. For some reason installing them under the IT guy’s user wasn’t cutting it, as much as we tried messing with permissions & ownership settings.
