  Compressor deinterlace sparkle artifacts

  Deinterlacing some 1080i edited programs through compressor. Just deinterlace, no re-size or frame rate change. I have the deinterlace setting under frame controls at “best”. I use this often but am now getting a lot of multi colored sparkle artifacts in the black areas. I have to think it has some thing to do with the source (a ProRes QuickTime) but what? I believe I’ve seen this in the past, distant past, but I’ve never found why it happens or how to get around it. Any insight would be appreciated.
