    Hey all, here’s the info:

    Apple OS 10.7.5
    using Compressor 3.5.3
    Source codec: .mov
    Destination codec: blu-ray (m2v, ac3)
    Destination used: WD serial ATA

    Issue: Having done this numerous times before, I’m using Compressor to create a BD from a quicktime file. After creating the blu-ray files, the drive door opens and it requests blu-ray media. I put the disk on the tray but the “eject” button (on the keyboard) won’t close the tray. I manually close it. I can hear the disc spin up several times, then it spits it back out and asks again to put in the blu-ray media. I’m using Sony BD-R discs (have been burning with them for the past few months just fine). I also tried creating a DVD, assuming the same thing would happen…BUT…everything worked fine (tray closed when I pushed the keyboard button, burned the disc, etc.).

    I’m not sure what’s to blame: internal blu-ray burner, blank media or the Compressor software

    Is there a way to test the burner (even though it clearly works in making a DVD)?

    Could an entire spindle of BD discs be bad?

    Would Compressor still be able to burn a DVD if it couldn’t burn a BD?

    Thanks for your advice!

    Yes. BD burners have two lasers, red for DVD and CD, and a blue laser for Blu Ray. Sounds like the blue laser has popped.
