    Hello there.

    I have a client who has a video — .mp4, 640 x 360 — that they need cropped to 640 x 200 to use as a web banner.

I’ve compressed videos before from ProRes and converted to finish in H.264 before with the letterbox cropped off, so I know how to do this, but I’ve never encountered a situation where I have to convert and .mp4 to a cropped .mp4.

How do I do this while maintaining as much of the original quality as possible?

Also, no they don’t have larger files. I’ve already asked.

    Thanks in advance!

You’re just going to have to drop it into your compression software, crop, and export out a new mp4. It isn’t possible to crop and do a simple “save as”; it’s going to have to be recompressed.
