I have 2 Intel dual 2.5 G5’s, 1 PowerPC 1.8 G5, and a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo that have been working as a cluster for Compressor very successfully for some time.

Recently, I’ve been rendering out of FCP to Uncompressed 8Bit NTSC and then using Compressor to encode them as m2v video and ac3 audio for use on DVDs.

In the second batch (approx 24 files), the cluster on the controller (one of the Intel dual-core 2.5’s) quits mid-batch. I power down the machine, restart it, the qmasterd is re-launched and encoding pics up where it left off.

Simply, my question is whether or not this could be caused by the Controller machine running out of memory because of the temp files. It seems like that could be the cause, but I wanted to put it out there and see if any of you have had this happen or can offer any insight.

    Thanks,

    Randy
