When I try to export using FCP 5.02 and compressor 2 it comes back with the message – unable to submit batch, compressor can’t connect to background process. I contacted Apple Support and they directed me to a page on their site which guides you through uninstalling and reinstalling Compressor. I did this, downloaded latest updates, ran disk utility. Still doesn’t work.

Maybe there is some kind of Qmaster conflict between Shake 3.5 and Compressor?

Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

This is an on-going and frustrating issue. No solution in sight, it’s different for everyone. The error started to show up with network issues. If Apple didn’t suggest it, shut down, disconnect all networks including USB and FW and ethernet, and see if you can start a Batch. Since you can IP over FW, FW is seen as a network connection and Compressor looks for all possible clients.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    Hi,

After trying all different methods posted on Apple and other sites I finally had to erase everything from my computer that said “Qmaster” and “compressor” by using Spotlight.
After that I installed Compressor with Qmaster again and works. I think this is the fastest way to fix problem.

Thank you for your replies. After trying everything and having no luck I took the plunge and reinstalled OSX and Final Cut Studio which made for a very long and boring night. Anyway, Compressor is working now. I’m guessing it must have been some sort of conflict with Shake 3’s Qmaster.
