    Compressor question..

It appears to be broken.. I have a job cued that will not finish.. nothing’s happening and it goes on and on blocking the cue. Rebooting doesn’t help as it just starts up again on it’s own. Canceling does not help as it refuses to cancel.. Kind of a Frankenstein job. Anyone know where to go to delete the job cue manually?

    thanks,

    Jason

First, Quit everything so that only your finder is running.

Then in the finder hit command-shift-G and then type this in: /var/spool/qmaster

In the qmaster folder you will find a folder or two of very long file names. Delete them and emptyt the trash.

Then open up Compressor and clear your history and quit compressor.

    Restart, then try again.

    No worries, Jason.

    Glad it worked for you.

Jeremy, I bow to your knowledge of Compressor and Qmaster’s finer points. But, man, you gotta admit, that is one totally obscure thing to to know let alone how to fix.
I’ll bet that’s not in the manual!

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

It is strange. I picked it up from an Apple article on how to reinstall Compressor.

Or you can just do the equivalent of quitting the process in Task Manager in Windows, and quit the process in Activity Monitor. I believe it may be listed within there by user name, beyond that it should be obvious. Somewhat more user-friendly, no?

Compressor does this to me like every time I send something… the fix works for a day or so it seems, any idea how I could make it permanent? I dont like having to shut down every time I send a batch…

Glen, are you sending refernce movies or going straight to compressor. If you aren’t send ref movies you should.

What does this mean to “send ref movie to compressor”? I’ve been opening compressor and dragging my files in to transcode to ProRes 422. Am i doing this wrong?

It’s a reference movie, meaning do not click the make self contained box when exporting.
