I often use compressor to make my podcast episodes out of a timeline I created in fcp 7.0.3. After years of doing this, I still can’t figure out why compressor always asks me to save something when I’m done compressing. What is it trying to save and why? Is there a way to quit without being prompted to save?

    THANKS

it would save everything the way it is in the tab, the source video and encoding settings. I never save.

On occasion, I have felt it helpful to save complex batch lists, but I agree, it should not be the default behavior.

Do any of you guys get compression right the first time every time? I know that I’m constantly searching for the holy grail of perfect gamma, perfect bitrate, etc, etc, etc for every different project, and saving a bit of code to the default “documents” directory to help me find my way back to my last effort is a small price to pay.

If you perfect settings for a particular workflow on one project, you can open that saved Compressor project and use it more or less as a droplet for future projects using the same type of media.

[David Roth Weiss] “If you perfect settings for a particular workflow on one project, you can open that saved Compressor project and use it more or less as a droplet for future projects using the same type of media.

If I need to do that, I usually just go to the extra step of making a Droplet.

You can also drag a previous encode from the Compressor History and steal its settings by dragging it onto your file in the batch list.
