    Hi,

I just wanted to use the new Compressor and couldn’t find the right settings for creating a video and audio file for DVD encoding. In my old compressor 3, there was the folder with best quality 90min, which contain the template for MPeG2 and sound file, which I always tweaked to my liking, but used it as a departure point.
In the new compressor, I don’t find this option. What and how do I choose, to export CBR 7mbps, separate audio file?

    Thanx.

    Hi Sascha,

You can use any Compressor 3 presets in Compressor 4. I have done this, so if you Just send me an e-mail at ronny(dot)courtens(at)mac(dot)com I will send you a ZIP file with all the Compressor 3 DVD presets.

Un-ZIP the file to get the “DVD Presets” folder. Then go to User>Library> Application Support>Compressor>Settings folder and drop the “DVD Presets” folder into the Settings folder. When you launch Compressor 4 you will see all your familiar DVD presets under Custom Settings.

    Hi Sascha,

I made a mistake in my e-mail address, the first dot should not bet there.
I have sent you an e-mail with the presets. Enjoy!

Just for anyone reading this down the road, Compressor 4 does have a preset for DVD. I’m not at a computer right now but I believe it’s in the “Disc” folder and is just a single setting that you can adjust. If you want to use the old preset you can drag it out of Compressor 3 to a folder, then open Compressor 4 and drag it in.

All the old settings were VBR when most of the time, especially for short form, CBR is the better choice. Lose the old settings.

    Only use CBR. Way better.
