Compressor 2.3 HD Text Aspect Ratio Bug
Hello,
I’m wondering if anyone else has seen this and if they’ve discovered a fix.
I’ve noticed that if I render a DVCPROHD 720p23.98 timeline using Compressor, text generators get rendered in what appears to be the wrong aspect ratio. When I was making the frame captures below, I also noticed that the same problem happens with shape generators. I’ve had this problem using both the H.264 and Sorenson 3 codecs (haven’t tried any others), rendering at 640×360 (half res), 512×288 (2/5 res), and 384×216 (3/10 res). The problem does not happen if I render at 1280×720. I have trashed my preferences for both Final Cut and Compressor.
The problem also doesn’t happen if I render straight from the FCP timeline, either as a QT movie or using QT conversion. I realize I could export a QT movie and then compress that in Compressor, but sometimes it’s inconvenient to do that.
I’m running Final Cut 5.1.2 and Compressor 2.3. I haven’t yet been able to upgrade to 5.1.4, let alone 6 and Compressor 3. Would this problem be solved with an upgrade?
Here are some frame grabs. The rectangle (an imported TIFF file) stays the same size, but the text changes:
