Compressor
Posted by Dan Browne on April 17, 2008 at 1:23 amI know this inst strictly final cut but I don’t know where else to put it. When ever I open Compressor, it loads then when the plash screen disappears it instantly closes and says “the application compressor quit unexpectedly lalalala”. It does that every time, including when I go export to compressor in final cut….. Does any one have a solution?

April 17, 2008 at 1:26 amCompressor has a Prefs file you can trash exactly like FCP does. Look around and see if you can locate it and trash it. It just might save you a reinstall.

com.apple.compressor.Compressor.plist
com.apple.Compressor.CompressorSharedServiceCompressor is a weird bird to fix, and you should not just reinstall it, all the flies that go alone with it need to be removed before you do the reinstall. Take a look at –
https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302845I have bookmarked this page!

April 17, 2008 at 3:33 am$39.95 to anyone who writes a script that does this procedure for you!
I had to re-install Compressor 2 a few years back using the above procedure, and in Compressor 3, I did all that and it STILL wouldn’t launch from FCP’s Export using CMP command. Eventually, I created an entirely new Admin User, and it worked fine. But of course, I had to spend a half day reconfiguring all of my other stuff to the new user.
Pain in the %&#!!!

April 17, 2008 at 4:48 amWow – thanks!
If it actually works, i’ll donate $40 to the guy who wrote it as freeware! (Maybe I should give you a 10% finder fee, eh?)

April 17, 2008 at 1:12 pmI would be nice if those work but I bet they only help a bit. There are several apps involved and I doubt if they are connected in anyway. I bet a script that finds and then deletes the specific files would do the trick.
