Apologies for the very general nature of this question, but I am throwing it out there.

I have a client who wants to buy a good compression software for a new Mac Pro 8 core. He is looking at:

    – mainconcept (tbd which module)
    – sorenson squeeze 8
    – telestream episode 6 or episode 6 pro
    – digital rapids

This is a world I don’t really know . . . does anyone out there have a preference they would like to share?

Telestream Episode 6 Pro (or Engine if they want extreme power). It’s geek tweak heaven for a compressionist. It spits out just about anything one might need from mobile to web to broadcast.

It’s cross platform so if you need to setup on Windows it’ll be easy to implement.

Its clustering is cross platform as well so you can access cores in an enterprise situation regardless of the OSs.

You’ll see my puss (literally) on top of the COW Episode forum so I wear my bias on my paws.
