    Compression Settings and Workflow

    I have a question regarding compressions setting based on our workflow. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    We shoot standard def with an HVX-200 to either a Firestore or P2 cards at DVCPro50.
    We import our footage via firewire, edit in Final Cut Pro and output to BetacamSP.

    Does it benefit us to edit Uncompressed or are we better off using DVCPro50 since that

    Edit DV50 and lay off to tape. That codec is very clean, and perfectly acceptable for output to BetaSP. In fact, going out to beta is DOWNGRADING the image, as it is digibeta quality.

    Wait….is DV50 also 720×480? or is it 720×486? Because I know several networks (not that you are delivering to a network) that kicks back stuff that have that 6 line blanking.
