Can anyone recommend an up to date book, or an on-line tutorial or a class in the Boston area that can help me learn compression techniques? I have been confused/frustrated by Windows, Quicktime and Flash in multiple different ways over the last three months. We have used Flip4Mac for WMV, Camtasia for Flash and iMovie or FCP for Quicktime recently to attempt post 1 hour plus lectures on the web with limited results. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the help. That was published in 2002. Four years is light years in compression technology.

Sadly I’ve seen nothing like it since. Focal Press has some books on compression though. Cliff Wootton, “A Practical Guide to Video and Audio Compression from Sprockets and Rasters to Macro Blocks.” Published in 2005.
