Right guys, I know you’re all more intelligent than me so can someone please exlain this to me?
I want to burn a 2hr video to DVD, however, when i export from FCP (Photo-Jpg) it’s about 3 billion gig in size.
Ok, slight over exaggeration but seriously, a 3 minute video is coming in at over 1.5Gb. so how the hell does everyone else do it?
    I need good quality. HELP!!!!

I used to spend my time wondering, now it’s all used up rendering.

Import your master to Compressor and apply the “120 minutes High quality” preset.
The file will fit in a DVD.
More than an “intelligence issue” this is a matter of reading the manual a little bit.

[Iain MacKinnon] “is that the mpeg2 codec?”
Sure. DVDs support only MPEG-2 files.
Use Dolby audio. Two hours AIFF would take some 1.2 GBs in the DVD.

    Send your video to Compressor

Use the DVD 90 min preset to make an MPEG-2.

Adjust the quality sliders to suit your needs.

Make an AC-3 file for audio.

Send all this to DVD Studio Pro and make your DVD.

Once you get it out of Compressor, you might need some help with the authoring process in DVD Studio Pro. You might want to consider buying the Pro Training Series Manuals for DVDSP, Compressor, etc. They do an excellent job of walking you the process of authoring a DVD. Good luck, we’ve all been there.
