Compressing to MP4 without losing multitrack audio
Hi,
I have source MP4 files that have 3 distinct audio tracks.
Track 0 = H264, AVC1, 709 color
Track 1 = track 2 and 3 mixed together, AAC, 16 kHz, 32 bps
Track 2 = audio from mic 1, AAC, 16 kHz, 32 bps
Track 3 = audio from mic 2, AAC, 16 kHz, 32 bps
If you open up one of the source files in VLC or QuickTime 7 Pro, you can see in the media info/movie properties that track 1 plays by default in both the left and right channels.
You can then select which track to listen to (solo).I want to trim these MP4s and then export with settings as close to the source as possible.
I’ve tried exporting through QT7Pro, Compressor, and Adobe Premiere Pro/Media Encoder and the resulting file always loses the multitrack, which I’m guessing either means track 2 and 3 are ignored or mixed down.
I’ve tried the following to no avail:
• https://revuptech.com/content/blog-guest-/exporting-multichannel-quicktimes-in-premiere-pro-45
• setting track 1 to center, track 2 to left, track 3 to right in CLR
• setting each of the tracks in Compressor as mono; 1 discrete channel; discrete-0, discrete-1, discrete-2; mono, 1 discrete channel (t2 & t3)I will not contact the originator of the source files for… reasons.
I can see there is promise in choosing uncompressed audio with a QuickTime/MOV codec/wrapper, but would like to avoid it if possible.
What can I do to just save a trimmed version of the source in its native settings without losing the multitrack audio?
