I am having a terrible time outputting a dvd with timecode burned in for client notes.
I have a dual core 2.3 mac tower
My source material is DVCPRO HD 1080i60 1280×1080
I have opened a hd timeline
I have created a qt movie of same
The qt movie is about 90 gigs
I am putting it thru compresor with timecode burn on picture
The time line is approx 70 minutes
    I am creating mpeg 2
    the mac wants 7 hours.
    Could that be correct.
It is making a 3.2gig file

I have wasted so much time on this I am thinking that there has to be a better way.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks, Bill

That sounds about right. Encoding something that long, with timecode, takes a while. Unless you have a Quad core or Octo Core mac, where you can use QMaster to allow Compressor to utilize all the computer processors, things will take a while.

This is why I got a capture card and a DVD Recorder. Real time play out.

I second the DVD Recorder option. That’s what most films out here in Hollywood use. 7 hours is unacceptable each day for dailies.

Telestream’s Episode may yield faster results AND you can cluster like the aforementioned QMaster Compressor solution.

Real Time is not so bad after all, eh?
