  • Compressing Final DnX175 10 Bit into H.264

Hey guys, so I’ve been editing footage from Blu-ray that I brought in as DnX 175 10 bit in a 23.976 project. I export the Quicktime as same as source, and then put it through Compressor to create a H.264 file for Internet upload. Whenever I compress it into H.264 my blacks get super crushed. Is there a way to keep this from happening? Gamma shift? I’ve already tried MPEG Streamclip and Adobe Media Encoder.

Also, when I output the Same as Source QT as RGB, the blacks already come out crushed on the QT, but 601/709 seems to look fine, so I use the 601/709 Same as Source QT to compress into H.264.

    Hi,
What happens is if you work
    In 16-235, you can expand
To web by using the RGB setting on export.

But are your originals previous to transcode in full range? using AMA before the transcode gives
    Control at the roots.(ser source
    Settings)

709 tells the app to not remap
Regardless of it’s legal ir not.
    RGB would “compress” on import
    And strech on export.

The plague is the QT. I wish Apple would free Prores. Both the wrapper and the viewer are a non-sense.
Not only in the gamma shift but watch-out your settings on H264 export between the HD and HD 16:9 nomenclature because the latest would crop your image for what they call “clean aperture”.
In the end, this fabulous qt does
What it wants to according to
    What it consider cosmeticaly
    Cool.

In fact. Are you obliged to use qt for web? Sorenson can create H264 qt free.

This qt should be prohibited by law.

    Fred.
