Compressing
Posted by Sonnie Hamner on October 10, 2010 at 1:53 amI have an 1:57 min project in FCP7 DVCPRO HD 720p60. 23.98. Sending it through compressor I get about 40 GB. Is this reasonable?
Compressing logic seems beyond my understanding. What settings for HD should I choose?Craig Seeman replied 15 years, 7 months ago 2 Members · 4 Replies -

I can’t even begin to imagine the setting in Compressor that would create a file that large for a 1:57 piece.
Export out of FCP self contained. Put in Compressor and select a preset for your target destination (Quicktime 7 for Web for example).

October 10, 2010 at 5:52 amI want to create a HD product for DVD
right now I am sending it through compressor again and this is what shows up in inspector:Name: DVCPRO HD 720p60
Description: DVCPRO HD 720p60 with audio pass-through
File Extension: mov
Estimated size: 95.88 GB
Audio Encoder
16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
Video Encoder
Format: QT
Width: 960
Height: 720
Pixel aspect ratio: HD (960×720)Finally got editing down and now I face compression!!
I have an 1hr 50min film dvcpro720p60, sent to compressor it renders out at 95.96GB
The largest disc I can find is a blu-ray 50GB
What settings do I use to render it under 50 GB and retain HD?

October 10, 2010 at 3:42 pmYou really need a basic primer on compression and I don’t think a forum is the place for it. You don’t seem to have a basic understanding of codecs and delivery. You need to get a good tutorial on Compressor and there are many.
DVD is standard def.
You need to know about making H.264 for Blu-ray which is Chapter 14 in Compressor manual. You can use the H.264 for Blu-ray template (Job Action). Alternately you can use the Share feature in Final Cut Pro which makes a Blu-ray disc with primitive menu. Toast will also make Blu-ray discs.
