    Hi everyone –
I’m having trouble with getting a good encode for a standard dvd.

My source footage is 1280×720, 29.97 fps. It is very smooth and was outputted with the animation codec.

I need to put it on a standard dvd, and I’m not sure what settings to use in Compressor. I set aspect to 16:9, quality averages 7 Mbps, 29.97fps.

The background of the source material has a soft blur, which is what’s giving me trouble… lots of blocky artifacts!

Any suggestions on what might to try?

I’m having the same problem with my HD footage. Footage acquired on DV tape looks better than my HD footage when I encode to SD. I’ve been trying different tests for two weeks with no good results.
