Compressed Audio Help
I am currently using Sony Vegas 7, and I recieved an interview soundbite that was shot outside during a windy day. The camera operator did not use a windguard and the soundbite is hard to make out over the wind. All the audio was also recorded on one track. I was wondering if there was a way to minimize the wind in my audio while not lowering the volume of the actual soundbite, with the interview’s voice. I greatly appreciate any and all help.

Wind is the hardest noise to remove because it is broadband noise and affects all frequencies and is not constant (i.e., it changes over time). You can cut the low rumble with an EQ but I would look at a tool like iZotope RX for a solution. It is an outstanding noise reduction tool.
