Probably the most basic, elementary question ever: If I have different 3D items in their own composition and am having trouble bringing those items into one master composition. Any ideas on how to do this properly?

i assume you are wanting to bring in two 3d elements and maintain their 3d-ness in a single comp…
there is a little option in the layer switches for each layer in the timeline that looks like a little spiky ball or sun. enable that and they should regain their 3d-ness.
