  composition panel contents way dark

  Why am I having a problem with video in the composition window (AE 7) being darker than it appears in Adobe Bridge? Is there some setting I have overlooked? Video in the program monitor of PPro 2 is also way too dark. When played with WMP on the same monitor the footage is watchable. What’s up?
