Compositing question
Hi
I am looking for a way to speed up a number of comps I am working on.
The shots are made up of a number of moving objects comped onto a defocussed backgroung.
Each object is shot on a green screen so it can be keys pretty easily.
I am applying a 3D Warp onto each object to resize it and position it on-screen
The thing that slows me down is having the key on the top layer of my effects nesting.
Is there a way to have the resiing effect at the top, as this is the thing that gets changed the most, and also ideally I’d like to work with positioning and sesising without having to do into the nest – once I’m in the nest I am working from memory.Any solutions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Apply your key first, then ALT+Drag your resize/3D warp effect on top. This will nest the key and you’ll be able to see your keyed object as you place it around the screen. Also, check to see if your key effect can be promoted to 3D. Then you won’t have to apply a second effect. You could just reposition it with the Key effect.
If you need to make adjustments to the key (or any nested effect) and you want to see the final composite, go into Segment (RED ARROW) mode and double click your nested effect. It will open the effect on the timeline so you can select the nested effect and adjust it while still seeing the final composite. Holding ALT while using Step In will also expand the nest on the timeline. Then ALT+Double Click the clip again to close it, or ALT+StepOut and it will close the nest.
