Compositing modes and why I can not get mine to work…
I am messing around with the “modes” in After Effects and when I try to switch the mode on a layer, lets say to overlay, I see no difference in footage I am trying to combine. Why is that? I use Sony Vegas and when I try to combine layers using compositing modes it works fine, please help.

Is that because of opengl interpretation or lack of it? Try edit>prefs>previews>openglinfo and change quality drop down menu to “more accurate” alternately disbale opengl.
This is what I recall from the text although my vid card radeon 600 displays belnding modes fine in default quality -
Thank you so much maurice, that did the trick. It was my open GL setting, I had to switch it to “more accurate”.
