Compositing in Cinema 4D
Im having trouble compositing a simple scene with Cinema 4D and After Effects. I have a Metaball in the center of my scene which comes to rest as a sphere. Then I have a block of text rotating around the sphere…the camera remains still during all the animation.
The text comes to rest not in the “centre” of the sphere but up and to the left so that the first few letters are just outside the rim of the edge of the sphere. I need this overhang of text to be masked off so that you can see the edge of the sphere.
I have tried adding a text spline and a masking spline to a spline mograph and then to an extrude nurbs and animating the masking spline but its very messy and the text breaks up very badly.
I tried using an object buffer onto the text block and masking in AE but it just made the block of text white with black background.
I also tried rendering the sphere, text and mask on seperate layers and then using alpha matte in AE but still get the desired effect.
Compositing is a serious weak point for me. Can anyone offer me some help as how to mask off 3d objects in a scene in Cinema 4D.
