  • Compositing done in After Effects w/ Apple Motion – **Input Desired**

I’m working on a series of hosting segments shot initially on green screen. I used After Effects to extract the chroma key and then used Apple Motion to create the background, then brought back into After Effects to color correct. Lastly I added some film effects in Final Cut Pro. I’m always worried about my green screen extractions looking cheesy, and just wanted to get the opinion of other hobbyists and professionals. I’d like to get input or constructive criticism about my final composite and also what could have been done to acheive this in less steps.

You’ve got nothing to be ashamed of. Nice looking composite. I really like the background and I’m sure you could create that in AE without too much trouble. I also like the film flash at the end. If you wanted to do that in AE Aharon has a tutorial. The little hairs/dust you would have to get from an actual clip of film.

Looks very nice. The talent doesn’t hurt the look either!

You know you can create a motion project and then bring the project file into AE as a element (layer), no need to render it first (or bring the AE key in Motion render then back to AE and render then add effects in FCP and render). If you want to change the Motion created bkg the changes will then show up in AE.

WOW! Now that’s news… I need to investigate that. I didn’t know that AE was compatible with motion like that.
