Folks, I am trying to put a small picture next to the name on a slow moving iPhone shot that includes a rack focus.

I am not able to get a smooth track, not does the photo I am using stay put as if it’s part of the phone. I wanted to know what your strategies are.

    My steps so far:
    Analyze motion on moving shot
Position and size the photo the way I want it
Match move applied to the photo with the analyzed motion of the shot as the source.

The tracking is very jittery. I’ve tried mimic source and attach source.

I don’t do this often so any insight would help me learn how to do this in Motion a lot better.

    Thanks.

Motion’s tracker is a point tracker. You really need a planar tracker to do what you want. Sometimes you can get it to work – make sure you are doing a Corner Pin track – but really, much better to use a plugin like TrackX which works in both Motion and FCP X.
