This is of subject of FCP but I thought you editors might now the answer. I have a Sony GV-HD700 that I use to bring MiniDV into FCP. (It has firewire out as well as HDMI) It also has a A/V Out that I use to monitor the audio and video (video through a Sony PVM 1350 using S-Video, audio through a Mackie to an amplifier and speakers) The deck also has a component out — (here’s the question)I thought since the monitor had RGB and sync inputs I’d use the component out from the deck. But the picture is green. The blue and red come through but the image is just green. Is RGB on the monitor the same as component video? I’m I missing something? (I also have to go from the RCA plugs out to BNC in on the monitor but have a nice new cable from B&H) Any ideas? (the picture from the S-Video looks great and I can do good color timing with it)

    Thanks,

    Richard

    G4, dual 1 gig, 1 gig ram, FCP 5.1.4, os 10.4.11

RGB is not the same type of signal as component.

    Component is
    YPbPr
    or sometimes called
    Y
    B-Y
    R-Y

RGB is usually reserved for a computer monitor kind of output.

    Rob,
Thank you. I thought it must be something like that.

    Have a good Holiday.

    Cheers,

    Richard
