component with Blackmagick HD extreme
Posted by Yan Abud on February 1, 2010 at 6:25 pmHi,
I’m doing a live stream contract. We’re planning to have 4 cameras passthrough an edirol V8. Then the signal is sent to my mac pro via the blackmagic HD extreme card.
Will the component signal be accepted by the SDI input?
Thanks a bunch!

February 2, 2010 at 1:53 amNot by the SDI input, but if you have a RCA type cable, you can buy cheap BNC to RCA adaptors to adapt the component BNC connectors on the dongle.

But I made a stupid mistake in my question. What I meant to ask is :
Will the COMPOSITE signal be accepted by the SDI input?
Thanks a bunch!

February 2, 2010 at 10:27 pmNope…but…if you want only the one input you can custom make a cable so that you don’t have all the other connections. We can send you the diagrame if you like. Just give us a call the parts are standard so you can make them yourself fairly easily.
That will get you a bit closer to a clean look which is what I am assuming you are going for.
Sincerely,
Joshua

But, I’m a bit tight on time, and it’s a one time thing.
Is there a quick solution with cables and adapters?
The composite signal coming out of the video mixer (edirol V8) is from a BNC or a S-video.
And it’s going to a R-Y B-Y Y component input (RCA female or BNC)And should I expect a visible degradation of the signal?
Thanks again
