Component Inputs Work when they want…
Hey everyone.
I’m working on a client machine right now and am running into a very interesting problem.
He recently upgraded his system to FCPstudio2 (FCP 6 ) from FCP 5. With version 5, the unit worked great. Update to 6, the component inputs don’t work. They are selected in the presets, as well as the control panel, the lights are correct on the front of the unit (component in, ect) and yet the capture window remains blank. All connections are correct on the back of the machine, and machine control is working properly.
Also, if I try and capture something anyway, the file size is concurrent with a working system. Audio is there, just no video shows up.
It is on the most recent firmware too.
Heres the weird part, back when he upgraded from FCP 4 to FCP 5 he had the same problem. The way he solved it was to have AJA send him a new unit.
I would really like to save him the hassle associated with that, as well as the possible loss of clients again.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
The system is:
Dual G5 2.7
2.5 gigs ram
10.4.11 OSX
ATI video card – AGP (sorry, don’t remember the model off hand)
Raid Array Drives -

uninstall the AJA drivers. Delete the FCP preferences. Reinstall the AJA drivers. Test your system with AJA Pro I/O control panel before you test FCP.
You will be just fine.
