Seems like I’m worldwide the first one with this error…

I got some AVC-Intra 100 Mediafiles in my 1080p/25 Project. With the Media Tool I transcoded them into the DNxHD 36 MXF format and selected another destination drive.

After finishing, I relinked one of these AVC-Intra Masterclips to the new transcoded files to test it, and it worked fine.

Then I moved all the transcoded files to the drive, where the other media files from this project already were.

Now when I start up avid (after I deleted the database files in the Media Files Folder) Avid tries to recreate the database files. It does it fine, but when the recreation process comes to the new transcoded files it gives an error that says:

Exception: AbstractMDB::scanMXFFileToMobManager – Invalid data stream offset
An Error occured scanning the file ‘(here it shows the path and mxf file)’.

I have the choice to either abort, Ignore, or quarantine these files. When I hit ignore, Avid ignores these files, so they are not available for the system and I can not relink to them either.

    Now here it comes:
When I move them back to the drive, they have been before, Avid has no problem with these Files when building the database.

But I still can’t relink to the trancoded files. Why?
The relink tool behaves, like these transcoded files are not there at all.

I trancoded the files in Avid Media Composer 3.0
after these problems I updated to 3.5.1 but the AbstactMDB Exception still pops up.

does anyone have a Clue, what is going on here?

    cheers
    Olaf

Avid just sees em from that old location. Deleting the database files is hit and miss but I always have good luck by renaming my media folders, launching Avid, capturing a csmall clip (per drive if needed) and letting it create new folders, complete with new dtata base files. You can then drag your media over to these new folders and delete the renamed folders.
This gives everything a new address as far as Avid is concerned.

hmmm, that sounds logical. I will try that and post the result.

At least I solved the problem with the relink. I noticed, there were only 30% of the files transcoded, and the one I tested the relink with was not. Bad luck.

thank your for the fast answer 🙂

Also, check that you have the right permissions for these files.

    Hey Grinner,

I did what you said, but unfortunately it didn’t change anything.
The thing is now, that avid shows this abstractMDB exception now also for the original AVC-Intra files.
The strange thing is, that it seems like no file is offline in the project, I can play every clip. (I’m not completely sure, since there are hundreds of clips in this project.)

do you have another idea to solve the

Exception: AbstractMDB::scanMXFFileToMobManager – Invalid data stream offset
An Error occured scanning the file ‘(here it shows the path and mxf file)’.

    problem?

    cheers

I’ve just encountered the same “Exception: ‘AbstractMDB::ScanMXFFileToMobManager – Invalid data stream offset’
An error occurred scanning the file ‘(file path here)

An editor in WI uses FCP and AutoDucked a sequence to me (in Boston) via a server. I pulled everything down and put it all in the correct places, but upon launching Avid I get the above error message regarding the .mxf files.

Anyone found a fix for this? Or are my .mxf files just corrupt?
