  • Complaints from Inside Pan Crop Window.. Best Practice using Markers with Music Video?

Posted by Karen Wood on March 26, 2012 at 2:28 am

I would like to “tap” to the beat of the music, with my “m” Key (creating Markers). (keyframes would be even better than markers!)..

Then I want to open the Crop Pan Window and SEE MY MARKERS / KEYFRAMES -to easily move the Camera to them.

Vegas does not work that way, does it?

*Markers are not visible in the Crop Pan Window. Why not?

    My Thinking (my method):
Please suggest a way to mark the video clip as I tap out Markers/Keyframes while I listen to my Audio Clip as I view my video clip and then I move the Pan Crop ‘Camera’ around.

Also, Editing within the Pan Crop Window, I’d think the SPACE BAR would PLAY the Movie… rather than have to go to all the way back to the Main timeline window to press the PLAY BUTTON! (Wrong Again!!)..

    Please offer suggestions.
Please tell me there is a simple way to “tap” Keyframes which are visible within the Pan Crop Window.

Whats up with the very little tiny keyframe Nav buttons in the Pan Crop Window?
Why can’t I slide those little tiny dinky little Navigation Buttons to the Right side of my Left Monitor Screen.. closer to my Timeline on the Right Monitor Screen?

I have 2 monitors. I open the Crop/Pan Window in the Left Monitor, it would make more sense to me if I could position the tiny little dinky keyframe Nav Buttons to the Right of the Screen!!

    Back to my original request.
Please suggest a smart method to create a music video that I can sync in time with the Music by moving the Pan “camera”.

    Sincerely,
    Karen

If I want to sync “Camera” motion to Audio placed Markers, I’d use Track Motion. I’ve also used Ultimate S Pro4 for complex Marker and positioning tasks.

If you want to stay with PanCrop the Loop the section on the TL and adjust each position. You can Group PC kfs and use ALT+ClickHOLD and move to the right to stretch to increase proportionally the spaces or doing the same and move to the left to compress the kfs proportionally. This way you have much control.

[Karen Wood] “Vegas does not work that way, does it?”

    No it doesn’t.

“*Markers are not visible in the Crop Pan Window. Why not?”

    See above 🙁

“Please tell me there is a simple way to “tap” Keyframes which are visible within the Pan Crop Window.”

    Place markers on your timeline.
    Open Pan/Crop.
Enable “Sync Cursor” button (bottom left of Pan/Crop timeline).
Move timeline cursor to first marker (this will now track in Pan/Crop timeline).
    Add keyframe.
    Repeat for all markers.
Disable “Sync Cursor” button so you don;t accidentally add more keyframes.
    Continue editing.

Pan/Crop Assistant from Vegasaur allows you to create Pan/Crop keyframes from markers (and much more…)
